Heading into Summer

I've just realized that I haven't posted anything since March and that post was about February. We're finally heading into summer. Damien's last day of 7th Grade is this week. We had an exceptionally brutal winter in terms of length, cold temps, and snowfall. I think once Spring hit and the hours were longer, it really helped my mood.

In March, Damien and I recreated the mint chocolate cake because I didn't like the frosting last time. There was an improvement, but it's still not perfected. We haven't baked anything since. I hope we can still bake together from time to time.

Back in March, my base was being visited by a 3-Star General and my office submitted my name to receive recognition. He presented me with a coin! My first and only General coin!

The other side of the coin.

Late March I visited my family for a much needed vacation. At this point there were still blizzards. Of course I had to try to get a picture of the gorgeous Mia. You'd never know she was an older cat!

In April, I took a course to help transition out of the military. Here was an attempt at a professional photo. Ugh...

With the improved weather, I've been motivated with both a spring cleaning project and my AF scrapbooking project. I had almost 19 years worth of AF memories to sift through. I'm liking how it's turning out.

For Mother's Day, Damien picked out a card, flowers, and a cute purrito mug! A purrito is a wrapped up cat lol

And for Mother's Day, I bought myself a key lime pie :D So good!

Damien RARELY brings home anything from school anymore. I think he throws it away :( Anyways, he brought home a cool race car that he designed and made.

There's a slot for a Co2 cartridge in the back for racing other cars

In other news, I had a birthday this month. I took the day off from work and made myself brownies. I also bought myself some new bed sheets in a pretty lilac color (with the money I received from my grandma) and had my car detailed to shampoo the carpets and remove all of the gross dirty snow that got tracked inside during the winter. Oh, and I also got a sound bar (from the money I received from my parents) for my TV so I can hear my shows better over the loud wall AC unit. So far it's been a great spring and I'm looking forward to the summer. Thanks for everyone who called and/or sent something for my birthday!

Damien is doing well too. He's ending the school year with good grades and good friends. I literally have nothing to complain about. I also enrolled Damien in a summer program that's hosted by the local police department that runs from June to July. They go bike riding, swimming, and they take a trip to a challenge course at the end of the program. It even includes lunch. And it's free! I just didn't like the idea of Damien sitting on his computer all summer long. He'll still have the whole month of August to be a vegetable, as well as the weekends and every Friday. I hope he has fun though because otherwise I'm going to hear about it lol.
