Brutal Winter

So far this has been a pretty brutal winter for us. Lots of snow and frigidly cold temperatures. It's startling to wake up in the morning for work and see that it's -20 WITHOUT the windchill. February is typically the coldest month of the winter so I'm not looking forward to next month. It's times like these where I wonder "why do I live here?"

Since Christmas I've joined a book club. They meet once a month and they seem like a great group. I'm excited to meet with them in February when I've actually read the book too.

Some other great news--Damien made honor roll for the 2nd Quarter! He actually made it for the 1st Quarter too, but I didn't see the notification. He's getting all As and Bs and he's doing so well. I'm extremely proud of him. He's even getting an A in Reading!

Damien and I spent some time learning some basic coding. I wanted to get a picture in case Damien ever becomes a video game designer. Then I can show him this as the beginning of his journey!

These were the contents of Damien's Roblox Christmas gift that he received from his friend at school.

One of those -40 windchill mornings, ugh

This was taken beside my parking lot at work. I see them all of the time eating and wondering around.

Chow hall lunch. I thought it was picture worthy.

Not to boast, but I got this pajama shirt at Walmart for $1! Also, I've lost almost 20lbs over the past year. I almost thought I'd never lose the weight...I'm 10lbs away from my goal weight!

My bubble tea and glass I received for Christmas! It was tasty. I decided not to use the tapioca balls because it would have taken more than an hour to fully prep to use. Who has time for that?

I finally got around to setting up my Aerogarden which was another Christmas gift. I had to move it from the kitchen to Damien's bathroom because the light is annoyingly bright.

Two weeks of growth. From left to right: Basil, dill, and parsley. I almost thought my parsley wasn't going to grow at all because it was so slow to sprout.

I started a small art project yesterday. It's called Diamond Art and you use a pen-like thing to adhere these little gem things to the image. It's like paint-by-numbers because the picture is made up of symbols for which color to use in each spot. Something relaxing to do.
